Assalamu’alaykum all,

In September, I’ll be trekking Haramosh Base Camp (4000m elevation gain) with Islamic Relief to raise money for Pakistan through their Water for Life campaign.

With climate change intensifying in recent years, the north has been hit hard - devastating floods during the monsoon and increasing droughts in dry months.

Communities are forced to rely on unsafe, contaminated water sources, leaving families vulnerable to deadly diseases.

This is why the Water4Life appeal is so vital – it provides sustainable water solutions that strengthen resilience against climate change and ensure families have clean, safe water for generations to come.

Clean water is something most of us never have to think twice about, but around 778 million people across the world still don’t have access to it.

Tackling the root causes of poverty often means addressing the water-related inequality.

As part of this challenge, I’ll be raising funds to allow Islamic Relief to install water filtration plants in Pakistan. These plants serve entire communities and clean the water before it even reaches the tap, making it safe for everyday use.

Pakistan is one of the most water-stressed countries in the world. Only 36 percent of the population has access to safe water.

With rising temperatures, a population of 247 million (5th most populous country globally) and shrinking water sources from the mountains - the crisis is only getting worse.

Islamic Relief has been working in Pakistan since 1992 and continues to support families through long-term, sustainable projects like this one.

By improving access to clean water, we’re not just meeting a physical need, we’re restoring dignity and giving people a real chance at a healthier life.

£2,500 can provide 50 people in Pakistan with clean water for life. That’s enough for around eight families.

Allah says in the Quran

“Whoever saves one life, it is as if he has saved all of mankind.” (Quran 5:32)
