Hello!

I've set out to run the 10k again this year, with 2 goals in mind - to complete it in less than an hour (I did it in 1 hour 6 mins last year so that will be an achievement) and to raise money in memory of a dear friend and colleague, Penny.

Penny was diagnosed with breast cancer a number of years ago. I can remember when she was given the all clear; however, sadly, a few years later she was diagnosed with secondary cancer and she passed away in December 2011.  I will always remember Penny for her amazing courage to fight this with her positive attitude and ability to live her life to the full.

Shortly, before she died she moved to St Michael's Hospice in Harrogate.  As well as having the same name as her favourite shop ;-) the staff provided amazing support to her family and friends.  It is for this reason that I am raising money for them.

So, having read this, hopefully you'll be inspired to either run/ walk the 10k yourself, sponsor me, or (and in Penny's own words from when she previously sponsored me for race for life), if nothing else, you can cheer me on from the comfort of your armchair!
