Guy's Urban Challenge 2019 · 28 September 2019 ·

Guy’s and St Thomas’ is among the oldest and well known teaching hospitals. Our areas of specialisation include cancer, cardiovascular services, kidney and urology and dermatology. We are home to Evelina London Children’s Hospital. With your help we can offer medical care that is second to none.

Story

Thank you for visiting our JustGiving page, and taking the time to donate, we both really appreciate it.

So as you know, we're both Supports of the Guy's Adults Transplant Team. For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a sports team for those who have had kidney transplants under Guy's [or Evelina]. This team is pretty special, and as are the people who make the team.

Unfortunately, in recent years we've lost a few members of the team. My Godmother, Sharon Newman was the Guy's Adults Transplant Team Manager for as long as we can all remember. The team was utter disorganised chaos when she was manager, and that's how we all loved it. She would tell us all to say “do you know who I am” when the going got tough, and that’s how we will always remember her. We also lost one of our amazing supporters and silver medal winning footballer, Jamie Lawrence. He continued his support of organ donation and was able to donate a large number of his organs and tissue, which is an amazing thing to have done. The team will never be the same without the members we’ve lost along the way.

So this year, Martin and I are taking on the Guy's Urban Challenge in memory of all the members of the Guy's Adults Transplant Team we've lost. We'll both be doing the full challenge of running 5km, followed by 18km on a spin bike and finally climbing the 29 floors of the Guy's Tower!

Any donations would be greatly welcomed. We can’t wait to share the pictures and videos with you!
