WALK IT Birmingham · 6 July 2019 ·

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis. Right now, over 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment; to fund research and to raise awareness.

Story

In April 2018 I was diagnosed with Ulcerative colitis after suffering worrying symptoms since Summer 2017. I tried to ignore my symptoms hoping they would go away putting it down to stress as i'd just started a new Job. My symptoms did ease for a few months but came back with a vengeance around Christmas time; I finally got the courage to go to the doctors. After a few tests at the hospital (I won't go into details) I was relieved to get a diagnosis, but at the same time I was overwhelmed and struggled with how to deal with being ill for the rest of my life. Nearly a year later I am feeling a lot more used to my condition and would like raise awareness. I am raising money for this amazing charity, so they can continue to support suffers and hopefully find a cure.

Crohn's & Colitis UK

We’re the UK’s leading charity for Crohn’s and Colitis.Right now, over 300,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of. And the real number could be almost double that.Because of the stigma and misunderstanding surrounding these diseases, thousands of people are suffering in silence. But they’re not alone. We’re working to improve diagnosis and treatment, and to fund research into a cure; to raise awareness and to give people hope, comfort and confidence to live freer, fuller lives.
