I have decided to run the Edinburgh 10k marathon. Yes. Me. Running. Sounds ridiculous. But I think it's only fair that I try.
I am running for the MS society, a charity that raises money to try to tackle MS - or multiple sclerosis.
MS is a neurological condition that affects the immune system. Normally, a substance called myelin protects the nerves in the nervous system. Sufferers of MS have myelin mistaken for a foreign body by the immune system, which attacks it.
About 100,000 people in the UK suffer from MS.
I am running for the MS society because my mum, Hayley Davis, suffered from MS, before she passed away in 2007. It was horrible to see what that disease can do, not only to the person suffering from MS, but also to the people around them.
I am hoping to raise money so that the MS society can help to pay for research into new treatments, as well as providing support for families who are affected by it, so one day people won't have to go through what my family did.
So please DIG DEEP! It's not every day I don running shoes and actually run... Any amount can help, whether it's pennies or pounds!!
