In 2014 I ran the Race for Life 5K in Folkestone and was lucky enough not to have anyone in my family suffering from this cruel disease. My Nan had previously battled with cancer twice when I was younger, and both times she won the fight. However a few months ago my Grandad was diagnosed with lung cancer, sadly caused by work with asbestos when he was younger, which should have been made illegal sooner by the government. I wish I could say he was still with us today, however he sadly lost his fight to this cruel disease on November 2nd 2015, as his cancer could not be treated. There will now forever be a huge hole in mine and my family's hearts and we will keep on missing and loving my Grandad everyday. My Grandad will always be my hero, he always put others before himself, always spoiling the whole family and had the best sense of humour. I will never understand why cancer had to choose to pick on such a lovely and generous man such as my Grandad, life is so unfair. I will never give up raising money for such a great cause in my Grandad's name, and one day, we will find a cure.
