Sport has tremendous physical, psychological and social benefits for the participants, particularly young people. WheelPower provides and promotes opportunities for thousands of children and young adults with disabilities to participate in recreational and competitive wheelchair sport and improve their quality of life.

Story

Sport has many physical and psychological benefits, which I have been experiencing since I started living a more active life.

I believe that everybody should have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits provided by sports, regardless of abilities. I have been inspired by the willpower of various people, who remained active in a wheelchair. The highest profile example is racecar driver Alessandro Zanardi, who lost both his legs in a racing accident in 2001. Due to his stamina, he came back to race cars and also won two gold medals in handcycling at the London 2012 Paralympics.

WheelPower is the British national charity for wheelchair sport, which provides and promotes opportunities for children and young adults with disabilities to participate in recreational and competitive wheelchair sport and improve their quality of life.

To raise awareness for WheelPower, on 3rd October 2021, I will be a member of a team which aims to walk the marathon distance as part of the Virtual London Marathon. As part of the challenge we will also push a wheelchair during the entire distance.

Please send a donation to WheelPower through this JustGiving page to support my charity walk.

Thank you very much!
