“Get on your dancing shoes for sensational Zumbathon”

The people of Oxford are in for a sensational summer event in the form of the Zumbathon in Aid of Breast Cancer Care.

The event, which takes place between 11am and 1pm on the morning of July 9th at the Benson Parish Hall in Sunnyside, will feature the amazing Zumba® program and is, essentially, a fitness-party with a contagious blend of Latin and international rhythms that provides a fun and effective workout to a global community, either at home or in the gym.

All beginners are welcome and there will also be a prize raffle with prizes gifted by local businesses too xWear comfy kit and trainers.

Steph Summer, George Martini & Rebekah Robertshaw are your three instructors & they guarantee to make you smile with a booty shaking workout, so join us and let's get the party started!! Remember to wear something pink!

The idea is the brainchild of Staphanie Summer, one of the instructors that will be on hand during the event, and was inspired by her mum and her fight against breast cancer.

“My mum had breast cancer and only as natural I went through it with her. Massively testing times, both emotionally and physically! Seeing the strength she was given by the people around her, medical staff, friends and family both during the illness and after, fighting back to fitness is truly amazing and still continues years after! It's made me realise that it never affects just the one person, everybody around them is affected by the pain.”

And, following on from that inspirational battle and her own experience and love of dance, Stephanie explains that,

“Dancing has always kept me fit and seen me through. Now doing Zumba and it being so popular, I thought with the amount of people that cancer touches, either directly or indirectly people could come to a Zumbathon, gain some fitness, have a lot of fun and give to a great cause! I saw it as my opportunity to raise some funds to help others that are feeling the same pains that my mother and the people close to her went though.”

The “Zumbathon” will be a great experience for everyone attending and all of the proceeds from the £5 entry fee go to charity. There’s no need to book, just turn up on the day! (All proceeds go to Breast Cancer Care).
