Ten years ago, my Nephew Harry was diagnosed with Hunters Syndrome and everything we read, said his health would rapidly deteriorate and that he would probably die by the age of fifteen. Obviously, this was a real shock to my Brother and the rest of our family but after years of treatment Harry celebrates his fifteenth birthday on Saturday. As mad as it might seem, Harry is lucky. He's got a supportive family and a vast array of amazing specialists, but most of all he has a positive outlook on life. On Sunday I am taking part in the Cholmondeley Castle Triathlon where I aim to complete an Olympic Triathlon for the first time. The Olympic distance is twice as far as any Triathlon I have taken part in before and is made up of a 1.5km swim, 44km Cycle and finishes off with a 10km run. I am aiming to complete this event to raise money for the Gem appeal who have supported Harry and his mum and dad since Harry was diagnosed. As part of this years challenge I also aim to complete the Windsor Half Marathon in September. I am keen to raise as much money as possible to support the GEM Appeal in their research and support for this ground-breaking treatment which will allow more children to live longer.
