Alder Hey Children’s Charity raises funds towards the pioneering work at Alder Hey. Your support ensures the 450,000 children we see each year will have access to the best facilities and equipment, and that the benefits of our innovating work are felt by families throughout the world #JoinUsJoinIn

Story

On the 5th June 2015, 94 staff from GBG will be taking part in our annual GBG challenge to raise money for charity. This year we are supporting Alder Hey hospital to raise money for new beds.

Having had to make use of their services for my family in the last 12 months (thankfully with a happy outcome) I am only to aware what a great service they provide but also the limited resources and funds they have to do it so very keen to make sure we can raise as much money as possible.

The ‘GBG Tri’ will consist of:
• Climbing Snowdon
• A Kayaking challenge around Lake Padarn
• A 25 – 30 mile cycling route that will circumnavigate Snowdon (off road)

You can sponsor the team on this page (https://www.justgiving.com/GBGROUP-PLC/)

Any support would be much appreciated, if you would like to offer some corporate sponsorship please contact the team on 01244657333.

What will happen to the money?

The average length of stay at Alder Hey is 2–3 days, but many of their patients will spend weeks and months there. Some will be with them for their entire life. Whilst their patients are here there they want them to feel comfortable and secure, so it is important that families can stay with them.

In the new hospital, 75% (200) of the bedrooms will be single occupancy, “personalised bedrooms”, allowing space for a fold-out, double futon bed which can be used as a sofa during the day.   The beds will include storage as well as meeting the high infection control standards required for the hospital. The beds will enable parents to sleep alongside their children in comfort. They are hoping to install 140 parent beds across Alder Hey, costing £2,000 each.
