Story
I have been very fortunate growing up, being presented with a lot of opportunities, and being encouraged to reach my potential at school, at sport, and in many other areas. However, not every child has these opportunities, because of the situation they are in.
I want to help these children get these opportunities by raising money for The Children's Society. In the UK 3.7 million children live in poverty, and The Children's Society works very hard to give these children, and many others, the same opportunities as other children got. They do this by improving basic, but every important needs, such as providing free school meals, ensuring they can live in a warm home and keeping them off the street. They also make sure families with disabled children are sufficiently supported to meet the extra costs to raise a child with a disability. Furthermore, they have a lot of area specific projects, as needs differ depending on the area people are in. For example in Coventry, the city right next to the university I am studying at, there has been a great increase in children that run away from home, and end up in horrible situations. The Children's Society is preventing this from happening, and in the cases that it does happen they try to make sure that the child will not have to be in such an awful situation again by providing counseling, and many other services.
To raise money, I and many other students are pushing ourselves to our limits to run the marathon in October. Every little donation is greatly appreciated, and together we are trying to make a change. I hope you can help.
