My Big Cold Swim!!
In a moment of madness at the tail end of last year I decided to sign up for the Great North Swim - a one mile swim in the chilly waters of Lake Windermere. Brrrrrrr! I feel cold just thinking about it.
I thought it would be a great way to raise some money for Cancer Research UK, I can shed some of those extra baby pounds and you shed your extra pounds by donating...win/win!
In the cold light of 2012 now my training is due to start I'm beginning to wonder what I've let myself in for! I'm going to have to fit in training a couple of times a week at the local pool (thank goodness for my lovely hubby who has offered to look after Evie whilst I do), I'm going to have to find some places to open water swim to aclimatise to the chilly water, and I'm going to need to get used to swimming in my new wetsuit! (I thought I might look a bit like Catwomen in my wetsuit...but think I may more closely resemble of a podgy seal!)
However these concerns pale compared to the good work Cancer Research UK can do with your donations. Cancer is one of the scariest things out there. The statistics are frightening, they really are. More than one in three people will develop a form of cancer in their lifetime. One in three? Think about how many friends you have, think about your family. I know of too many people who've had to fight this disease, donating to Cancer Research UK is a great way to do your bit to help beat this disease for good!
