Non-profit and charity fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This affects all sectors of society, and in particular, projects and vulnerable communities that these non-profits support. Without donor income and volunteers, they cannot provide the donations and services they need to.

I'm fundraising for Globalteer, the charity that I have worked for during the last four years. They work with amazing projects in South East Asia and Latin America. We've been challenged to come up with a fundraising activity centered around the numbers 2.6 or 26.  So I've made mine an art and education challenge!

Since moving to Argentina, I've been interested in learning more about my new home. Unfortunately, full lock-down and quarantine means I can't do much exploring. But I've increasingly become interested in the number of bird species that I can see from our balcony. Thus, my challenge was born!  

Starting on April 26th, I'm going to be completing 26 pencil drawings of 26 bird species found in Argentina. There will be one for each letter of the alphabet!! ALPHABIRDS!!! I'll aim to do about 5 per day, and bring you a video each day during the week, showing you my drawings and giving you some facts about the species I've chosen. 

And even more exciting for you....if you donate at least $10 to my campaign, I will MAIL you directly one of my drawings for you to have for your art collection (as soon as I'm able to visit the US again).  

My art skills are mediocre at best, but I wanted to do something that was both relaxing, fun, and educational. So I'm doing something with my hands, learning something at the same time, AND raising money and awareness for a great cause.
