Story
Thanks for hearing our story! Karibu na karibuni ! (That's ' Welcome and welcome all' in Kiswahili.
Sadly WE ARE NO LONGER MAKING THIS TRIP, largely due to COVID-19.
Therefore we will soon be closing this JustGiving page.
However, for anyone who still cares to make a donation we recommend the Kilimatinde Trust, a charity assisting Tanzania's poorest region (Singida) through the Anglican church's Diocese of Rift Valley (Tearfund's partner) in education, health and development. You can visit them and learn more at www.kilimatinde.org.uk
In this semi-arid area many people struggle to make a living from small-scale subsistence farming and the region has incredibly high levels of poverty. The Trust has created dormitories, classrooms, science labs and a dam, and sponsored hundreds of young people in education, as well as pastors, churches, environment projects and HIV/AIDs schemes, to name but a few.
Donations to this page go to THE KILIMATINDE TRUST, which focuses only on the Diocese of Rift Valley. THANK YOU! Through its UK office, the Trust qualifies for Gift Aid but it has no UK admin or personnel costs.
70% of the population of Tanzania live on less than £1.45 a day – the UN measure of ‘extreme poverty’. 80% of people in rural areas live in poverty and 40% of children are chronically malnourished.
