George Takes Budapest In 42km

Budapest Marathon 2015 · 10 October 2015 ·
One of my New Year's resolutions was to run 10km, and to run twice every week. However, early in January I accidentally ran 12km to burn away stress. And that twice a week goal, so small to begin with, seemed so hard to meet. So I wanted a new target, a better reason to keep running. It's something I've loved doing since I was about 13, but an activity with which I have a heavily on/off relationship. Enter The Children's Society and the University of Southampton's RAG Society.
The opportunity?
To run the Budapest Marathon, and raise money for said society, who've been operating for over a century, and whose focus now is on supporting young people and children living in poverty, and in abusive, at-risk situations or relationships, in the UK.
I want to raise money for charity, and because TCS do such important work, even if it's not related to any of my own experiences (so don't expect a so called 'sob story'), I decided to go for this experience.
However, I've never run in any race longer than 5km. The furthest I've currently managed to run is 12km - a marathon is 42km. I have roughly 4 months to raise £1200 for TCS, and about 6 to train for a marathon - should be a piece of cake right?
I love cake, so that might be a problem.
The £1200 fundraising goal seems like a lot, but what you can give is probably more than you think (*cough!*), and I'd be eternally grateful if you could all help me reach that goal.
