Hi all,

As a nation we are renowned for our compassion and
generosity towards those of our fellow human beings who have sought refuge from the terrors of war and persecution.

It is in this context I am asking for your help.

I will be volunteering at a refugee camp in north western Greece for the month of January 2019 working alongside other volunteers, for
Refugee Support Europe(RSE), who in partnership with the government and other agencies are tasked with providing food and clothing to refugees in three campsites in Greece. I will be working in the camp at 
Katsikas  which is currently home to over eleven hundred refugees and expanding further as the camps on the offshore islands are closed  .

Refugee Support Europe is a small dynamic organization that relies on caring volunteers to deliver aid with dignity. RSE relies on public donations and every euro raised goes directly to improving the lives of people who have had to flee war and violence.

Refugees are forced to live in heavily under- resourced camps. Your donation would help provide nutritious food to supplement their
limited resources. From experience we know this improves their mental health as well as their physical health.

Dignity is at the heart of everything RSE does. We provide a token payment system which allows people to shop in our mini market and spend their points on whatever they want. By making it a more standard shopping experience we bring some normality to their lives.

 The host country Greece is itself struggling in the aftermath of the financial  crash . Unemployment is at 20%. By buying what the refugees need locally we are supporting the local economy and building
crucial bridges between local people and the new arrivals.

The ongoing costs of providing essential food items is very much dependent on public donations and fundraising by those travelling to work at the camps. Volunteers pay their own travel, accommodation, food and any other costs . All monies raised go towards the needs of the refugees.
