The number of people diagnosed with cancer is growing, we're doing whatever it takes to help more people with cancer get the best care the UK has to offer, whoever and wherever they are. To donate, volunteer, raise money or campaign with us, call 0300 1000 200 or visit macmillan.org.uk

Story

In June 2008, Adam Kamyar and Christian Coghlan will be running the Gobi March - "6 marathons in 6 days"  in China for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Sadly, Christian's father lost his battle with Bowel Cancer when Christian was just 12 years old.  Macmillan Cancer Support carries out amazing work to improve the lives of people affected by cancer and campaigns for better cancer care. www.macmillan.org.uk

The Gobi March is a six-stage, 155 mile footrace across the Gobi Desert.  Competitors carry all of their own food & equipment needed for the week and are self supported throughout the event.  They will face extreme temperatures, terrain and the altitude is expected to reach almost 13,000ft (3963m).  The risk of altitude sickness makes this one of the hardest endurance events in the world.   www.racingtheplanet.com

The host city is Kashgar in the extreme West of China.  The race organisers have been scouting courses for the 2008 race and the likely location will be close to the border of Kyrgyzstan in an area closed to tourists.

Any support will be greatly received and if you have any fundraising suggestions please get in touch.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor this event: Macmillan Cancer Support will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

Many thanks for your support.

Adam & Christian
