Story
My brother Dion Conroy and I are doing a 60 second Press Up challenge in order to raise awareness for Alzheimer's and Dementia. We'll be going head to head on Sunday 30th July 2017 and if I lose I'll get my legs shaved and if Dion loses he'll get his head shaved!!!! We'll pick someone who has donated to our fundraising campaign to either shave my legs or shave Dion's hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So please donate to our fundraising campaign and put either one of us through the forfeit.
We'll be sharing videos of all our #gonein60seconds challenges on social media, so head over to @conroy02 on Twitter, @jayconroy02 on Instagram or www.facebook.com/jay.conroy.75 to watch.
We also invite you to come up with other challenges for our next fundraising campaign. Please make a comment on Social Media and we will pick out the next one.
So a little bit more about us. Dion is a professional footballer at Swindon Town Football Club and has just been signed from Chelsea Football Club.
I started my career at Crystal Palace at 16 then left at 20 years old to play for the likes of Wimbledon and Lewes FC, winning the Conference twice. I am now a model working internationally with brands such as Nivea, Dolce and Gabanna, Calvin Klein, and Abercrombie and Fitch
I am on TV for the Ford eco-sport and the Muller Light yoghurt adverts.
I've been campaigning for national Breast Cancer and Testicular Cancer campaigns and featured on the front cover of Men's Health, Men's Fitness and GQ Magazine.
We want to share a little more about our amazing Nan. Nanny D was larger than life growing up and head of the household and always such a strong character; she now has Alzheimer's and seeing her sparkling personality fade away has made us realise how Alzheimer's can change someone's personality drastically and with a little bit of effort and help we can raise awareness and hopefully cure this terrible disease.
Dementia affects over 850,000 people in the UK and numbers are increasing
Around 38% of the UK population know a close friend or family member with dementia
At £24 billion each year, dementia costs the UK economy more than cancer and heart disease combined
£20 could fund one hour of vital research
£50 could provide access to specialist equipment for studying cells
£120 could support complex protein analysis
