The charity EAST has been set up by Monkey World - Ape Rescue Centre and operates from an island called Dao Tien, covering 67 hectares, at the entrance of the Cat Tien National Park in Vietnam.
Its purpose is to rescue, rehabilitate and release primates native to Vietnam back to the forest. Staffed by primate specialists from Monkey World, Dr Marina Kenyon, Wendy Derham and Lee Butler, it goes from strength to strength with Pygmy Loris’ Mistletoe and Thang already successfully released into the forest on the island.
With the aid of the GPS/GSM radio collars, our staff are able to track and closely monitor these primates, all the while knowing that as far as they travel they are still safely contained on the island and away from the dangers of poaching.
In order to continue with our release program, we need to raise funds for radio tracking collars, at a cost of £3000.00 each we really need your help. Help us release these beautiful and highly-endangered primates back to the wild, by donating a small amount, it all helps towards our target.
