Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. You have taken a giant step to becoming a legend!
I've decided that once is never enough. Ten years ago, I completed my Big Fat Greek Road Trip through 10 countries over 5 days with a "co-driver". This time, I'm going to 'up the ante' by driving solo through 13 countries in 5 days...all for Cancer Research UK and the fine work they do every day to try and beat illnesses that seem to surround us on a daily basis. I'm not a long-haul driver and I have some anxiety and confidence issues, so this drive - although daunting - is a suitable challenge and a small token of what I can do for a very worthwhile charity.
"But Antony, which countries will you be driving through?" I hear you ask. An excellent question, if I may say so. Well, after a fundraising day on the 1st July, the drive will officially begin on the 3rd July from Calais, then travelling through France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (catchy name) and Greece, ending my journey at the Acropolis in Athens on - all being well - the 7th July 2018.
I'm dedicating this charity drive to everyone who has been affected by cancer in whatever way - as a friend to a sufferer, a family member, or even if you're going through cancer treatment at the moment. I hope you can all support me in my challenge and let's all raise lots and lots of money for Cancer Research UK!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity. Don't forget that if you're a UK taxpayer, you can Gift Aid your donation so Cancer Research UK can claim an extra 25% of your donation...at no extra cost to you!
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Al and Jen Ferguson, as well as The Dad Network as a whole, for their support and encouragement in getting this trip ready and for the task ahead. If you don't already know about The Dad Network and the support they give to families, I urge you to have a look at https://thedadnetwork.co.uk/ to get more of an idea and, if you're a Dad, join in and see how you can benefit and support others, such as through The Dad Network Foundation.
Thank you all for your support. Bring on My Big Fat Greek Road Trip 2018!
