The Proclaimers may have walked 500 miles, but Gareth Jon Hunter is walking just over 2000 up and down Mainland Great Britain, as well as climbing the Three Peaks of the UK at the same time, this summer · 13 August 2013

Our mission at Terrence Higgins Trust is to end new cases of HIV in the UK by 2030; to empower and support people living with HIV to lead healthy lives; and to amplify the voices of those affected by HIV to eradicate stigma and discrimination.

Story

I'm so excited, but nervous as hell for what I'm about to say.
I'm taking a tent and a rucksack and a pair of good boots and going on a walkabout for 2 months.

I plan on walking up and down Mainland GB this Aug/Sep from John O'Groats in northern Scotland to Land's End at the extreme south of Cornwall in order to raise money for the Terrence Higgins Trust (as well as my own personal achievement and motivation).

On the way, I will be climbing the 3 highest mountains in the UK (around 1000m each), camping each night, couchsurfing as much as possible and seeing some of the best parts of Great Britain.

And when I finally reach my destination, I'm going to walk back home to Newcastle via the South coast of England and London.

I've never done anything to this scale before, but with your generous donations and thoughts, I am hoping to raise a lot of money for charity.

Pictures of my basic route are below. Anyone with any tips of where I should go, what I should do etc feel free to let me know.
