We raise money to help Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals provide world-class care to thousands of heart and lung patients each year, and to support the hospitals' pioneering work in heart and lung disease diagnosis, treatment and research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

So i have decided that next year, February 2015, during National Heart Month i shall be skydiving in tandem from a plane 10,000 ft high.

Why? Yes many of you may be wondering why someone terrified of heights, who quivered at all PGL activities has decided to do something as monstrous as a skydive.

Many of you will already be aware of the massive part the Royal Brompton and the Harefield hospital have played in my life recently. My gorgeous mother, Michelle Dutton, has had 3 heart operations in the last few years, making a grand total of 5 in her lifetime under both hospitals. I could not be more grateful for the work that they do, not only in providing relatively comfortable seats in their cafe's for me to camp out on, but for doing everything and anything to help save or improve the lives of their patients.

My sister, Jessie and I have both inherited Marfan's syndrome, a genetic condition of the connective tissue, and the two hospitals have continued to support our family with regular checkups and scans. When i recently attended the clinic in November it was predicted that in around 5 years time, i too would have to undergo open heart surgery to repair the stretching in the Aorta. Although this may not seem positive it is because of the RBH hospitals that we are able to monitor any change and reduce the risk significantly. The RBH charity do a tremendous amount of work into research and funding the facilities to make this happen. Not only for myself and my family but for so many others in need of heart or lung treatment.

I would really love if my friends and family would join me in raising money for all the nurses, doctors, surgeons and staff so that they can continue the amazing work they do.

I have been given the target of £400 by the company to complete the skydive, but maybe we can do a little better? i will be fundraising as of now, testing my baking skills! but i would really appreciate any donations you may like to make to the charity.
