7km run, and an hours dog walk today. I will get up that mountain

I was very encouraged after the success of my 2 day 22 mile Women only Trek last year for Breakthrough Breast Cancer which collected over £900 for the Charity thanks to the generosity of you all.
To really challenge me In September 2012 which is the tenth year anniversary of the death of my first husband Donald in his memory I will be facing one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever done. A long time ago we did a four day hike in Thailand where he had to almost drag me up every hill moaning all the way. So I hope he can help this time as I drag myself up the Himalayas, or at least protect the ears and tempers of those who are with me (Poor Lucy once again).
On behalf of the Genesis Trust I will join Professor Robert Winston’s women only challenge and trekking for 6 days in Nepal. It really is a challenge and not a holiday! I will be trekking for 6 full days in the Himalayas starting from Kathmandu camping at heights reaching over 3000m and up and down across terrain that will really challenge me, I will be training for the event for the next year.
I am aiming to raise a minimum of £3,200 from you my friends, family, and colleagues, in order to take part I have pre-registered for the challenge and will be raising funds through this page and as many events and fund raising activities we can think up!
The aim of the Genesis Trust is to fund ground breaking medical research work at a major research centre in London (Imperial College, Hammersmith Hospital) which is really making a huge difference to people starting a family and to babies who have difficulties at the start of life.
Hundreds of women from across the UK have already helped Professor Winston raise nearly £2.7 million for the Genesis Research Trust by taking part in challenges around the world. The Women for Women challenges raise funds to train women scientists and clinicians to work at the centre, empowering more women to lead in this field. They will work to improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a range of devastating conditions which cause genetic diseases, miscarriage, premature birth, brain damage and cancer. The fundamental aim is to improve women’s health and to ensure that more women have a normal pregnancy with a healthy baby.
With nearly 250 babies dying every week in the UK from complications during pregnancy, the work of the charity has never been so essential for women and babies nationwide.

If you could help by making a donation towards my target I would be very grateful.
Those who know me well will understand this is a huge undertaking on my part, taking me totally out of my comfort zone and know there will be a lot of hard training ahead. pity my poor dog, children, and husband who will be dragged along on my training hikes.
Thank you in anticipation of your support and encouragement. I will let you know how my challenge and the fundraising go.
UPDATE!
Bank Holiday Monday the 25 April:- I’ve just completed my first training trek, (picture of the map route and times attached!).. With over a year to go I’ve started out small with an 8 mile walk around the perimeter of Richmond Park, accompanied by my Husband Geoff who’s ‘volunteered’ to be my training partner.
We set of at 10:30 from Kingston Gate of the park heading east, reaching Robin Hood gate by 11:05 and marched on to Roehampton gate arriving at 11:30 and then took our first 20 min break, (for a pee and a drink!) carried on at 11:50 now heading west past Sheen gate at 12:05 and reaching Richmond gate at 12:30, denied a rest by slave driving Partner and dodging the kamikaze’s on hire bikes we trekked on in the unseasonal 70C+ to reach Pembroke lodge (or the White House as its locally known), here we took time out to see the marvellous views over London, sneaking a peak through the telescope (someone left it running) at St. Pauls on one side and Strawberry hill on the other. A quick sandwich lunch at the White House and off for the final rush back to the car, and yes we RAN the last 200yds to make it back on the dot of 1:45pm so taking out the 55mins of breaks that’s 8 miles in 2h 20mins not bad for the first training day.. Oh and finished up with a half hour dash around Waitrose on the way home. We will be doing it (minus the trip to Waitrose) again on Sunday the 1 of May at 10:30 so if you want to join us feel free to meet us at the Kingston gate car park, and if you want to donate on the day in coins Geoff has promised to carry them all around! So the more the better to slow him down..
Bank holiday Sunday May 1 We did our second training walk, another 8 miles around Richmond Park, Lucy Geoff & I were joined by members and friends and family from my Slimming world group, 11 of us including a dog and two well behaved kids set off from Kingston gate and repeated the walk we did last week. AND I then did boot Camp on Monday morning OH MY GOD!!!

13th August - Its getting close now, and the training has really ramped up, walked with Lucy 3 times up and down Box Hill (the Olympic Cycle Race venue) Thursday, followed by a 12 mile Hike Friday along the coast to Lymington, with Lucy and Geoff and Boot camp on Saturday, phew it was hot! But a great walk.
