Inflammatory Neuropathies UK is dedicated to helping people affected by GBS, CIDP, MMN, and over 40 other Inflammatory Neuropathies. We provide information & support (personal grants, counselling, peer support), advocate & raise awareness, and help to fund & facilitate research.

Story

Whilst he was out having the time of his life travelling South America on his gap year, Angus unfortunately contracted GBS which has left him paralysed from his neck down. Fortunately he is now back home safe in the UK with an unbelievably determined attitude and a smile on his face.

Having lived with Angus throughout university, he has become like family to us. We look forward to him making a speedy recovery so that he can get back to living life to the full.

Guillain-Barré syndrome is a rare autoimmune condition affecting the peripheral nervous system, usually leading to temporary or long-term paralysis. Around 80% of those with GBS will make a good recovery, but between 5-10% of people will not survive and the other 10-15% may be left with severe mobility or dexterity issues. GAIN helps people understand and manage both acute and chronic variants of the syndrome, raises awareness, and promotes clinical and non-clinical research into these conditions.

In order to show our support we have chosen to compete in the Victoria Park January Half Marathon (running is none of our fortes!). We would really appreciate any donations and support, all of which are going towards the GAIN (Guillain-Barre & Associated Inflammatory Neuropathies) charity. This charity has helped others in a similar situation to Angus and has saved many lives.
