Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
Harper & Piper were born at 30 weeks gestation after a very quick premature labour. Mum knew she had group b strep but due to an hour long labour did not receive the full course of antibiotics to clear the infection. Harper was born first in her sac and waters, protected from the infection but unfortunately piper caught it. Within hours piper became seriously ill and the amazing team at UHCW threw all they could at her to keep her alive.
Within hours the infection grew rapidly andshe developd sepsis. Since then she has had oedema, a perforated lung, a pnuemothorax, two lumbar punctures, numerous blood transfusions, an operation for a perforated bowel!
The team and unit at UHCW are absolutely amazing and no words could ever truly be enough to thank themfor the wonderful job they do. When youre at your lowest they give you so much strength to keep going and remain positive. We have all made somany good friends there its like a second home.
Even though we wish no one else could ever go through having a baby early we are trying to continuously raise money for the baby care appeal so anyone that does has the best possible care and support available.
