We provide support and resettlement to homeless people in Harrogate District

Story

NCS is the National Citizen Service aimed at giving young people, between the ages of 15 - 17, various life skills not necessarily acquired in the classroom and a chance to help their local community.

We are a small group of 16-17 year olds who, through the NCS project and in partnership with the Harrogate Homeless Project, are trying to raise awareness for the homeless of Harrogate by sleeping rough for 24 hours on Thursday 11th - Friday 12th August 2016.

We will be spending one night in Harrogate town centre, just as the homeless do every night of the year. Also, we will be walking round the town centre handing out leaflets, posters, and key rings to raise awareness for the Harrogate Homeless project.

About the charity

The Harrogate Homeless Project is Harrogate district's only direct access hostel, providing emergency accommodation and support for homeless people. Only 13% of our running costs are met through statutory funding, so we constantly need to raise money in order to continue.
