Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
Firstly, a bit about my application into the London Marathon... it was on a whim. Nothing more really. My attitude changed somewhat when I received confirmation that I was in, and that I would have to start doing some proper training. The next question was who would I raise money for, and this took some umming and aahing (so many charities to choose from!) before I settled on the World Land Trust. This is a charity close to my heart and home, they are based close to where I live and operate in all of the countries I want to see in my lifetime!
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: World Land Trust gets your money faster, which is very important as the work they carry out is against the clock, as you read this, the lands they are working to save are under attack from intensive farming and logging operations, particularly soya plantations (across South America) and palm oil plantations (across Indonesia, particularly in Borneo). Also, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation, at no expense to you, so your money goes further.
The World Land Trust works to protect the habitat of iconic species across the globe, from orangutans in Borneo, to Jaguars in Brazil, to Elephants in India and the list goes on, not to mention the vast numbers of other species prevalent in these areas.
To put donations into perspective, through the World Land Trust and their partner organisations in the countries where they operate, £50 can be used to protect 1 acre of land, which, compared to organisations working in countries such as the U.K. (where an acre of land typically costs around £10,000) you can see how World Land Trust make your donation go further.
Their work is crucial and, as already said, against the clock, so please sponsor me now!
