CLAPA is a support organisation for all those affected by cleft lip and/or palate. One in 700 children are born with this condition. We provide information, advice, and support through our online events led by staff members and volunteers. Facebook groups, and peer and parent support services.

Story

Faith was born on 7th December 2012.  At our 20 scan we were told that she had a cleft lip and possible palate (she was born with both).  Due to the information and support given to us by the Cleft Lip and Palate Association (CLAPA), this potentially scary and life changing event has been nothing but joyful and wonderful.

We would like to give it back and pay it forward by raising money for CLAPA, to use to help other families affected by cleft lip and palate throughout the country and more locally in Manchester.

Three babies are born every day with a cleft – with your help CLAPA can be there for every one of them and their families.

To hopefully make you part with your cash, Helen Barton will be going about her daily business in fancy dress during the CLAPA Awareness week 11th - 18th May.  She will be going to work, supermarket, gym and also be leaving the car at home and going on public transport!

I will be updating the page daily with photos.  Each outfit will spell out CLAPA.  If you see Helen in the street, please stop her to say hello (she may also need a hug).

We are also running a competition and if you do see Helen, take a photo of her and upload it on our facebook page –

We will put all the names in a hat and the first name  that we pull out will win a prize.

Keep your eyes open in Hyde, Denton and Bredbury!!

Please dig deep and get behind the cushions on your couch - even 50p goes a long way.

Thank you so much xxx
