Hackney Half Marathon 2019 · 19 May 2019 ·

The Objects of CIVA are “to advance any purpose which is recognised as being exclusively charitable under the laws of every part of the United Kingdom”. CIVA specialises in taking good ideas and turning them into successful and sustainable programmes. The main thrust of our work at the present time is in the following areas: • The promotion of social entrepreneurship and support of social entrepreneurs. • Encouraging the participation of young people in issues that affect them as young people and in wider society. • Enabling poor communities to address issues and problems in their lives. • Addressing the needs of families and their health and wellbeing, especially young families and early years children, • Addressing the issues of environmental sustainability and climate change. • The advancement of mathematics. • Experimenting with and investigating new forms of sustainable finance in support of these objectives.

Story

I swore I wouldn't do another half marathon but here we are!

Why? What could make me put myself through that again?

I passionately believe that Year Here is a fantastic vehicle for social change but we still need external support to enable us to offer more bursaries for those who have  potential for social impact but are hindered because of their background or financial circumstances, and we definitely don't want to contribute social inequality.

We think that crowdfunding is a good start, which is why we are running Hackney for the 6th year in a row. We're asking for your support to meet our target of £5,000. This will enable one Fellow to participate in our ten-month programme, delivering hundreds of hours of voluntary work, with the potential to go on to change the lives of thousands of people. Please help us to help them change the world!
