Story

After seeing this challenge available for application, it took me two hours to decide to commit.

Why did I commit?

My friend Lisa who is 34 years old, the wife of an old school friend Adam, is fighting her breast cancer with braveness, dignity and grace, but ultimately with a want to share her experience and promote breast checks to catch early signs of cancer.

My admiration for Lisa is huge and no challenge could compare to the challenge that Lisa and Adam are facing over the next few months and into the future with Lisa's  diagnosis and staying strong for their two little girls.  To feel like I'm helping I wanted to take up the challenge to raise as much money as I could for Breast Cancer Care.
A breast cancer diagnosis under 45 can be particularly lonely. Breast Cancer Care charity provides information on fertility, treatments and support services for younger women.

£5 can pay for a comprehensive, easy-to-understand information pack for someone newly diagnosed with breast cancer.

£10 can pay for someone to attend a breast awareness workshop and help make sure that they’re able to spot the signs of breast cancer early.

£23 can pay for a call to our Support Line so anyone affected by breast cancer can talk to someone who understands the challenges they’re facing and can provide them with the support they need.

What my challenge in Peru contains?

Long tiring climbs to high passes over demanding 'Dead Woman’s Pass' (4200m). Steep sections with many steps; especially hard downhill. Trek 7-10 hours each day
Camping whilst trekking.
Altitude adds to challenge; highest pass 4200m. On reaching heights above 3000m, heart pounding and shortness of breath are a response to the lack of oxygen in the air. For some these symptoms can deteriorate into a condition called acute mountain sickness, when you can start to experience headaches, loss of appetite, extreme tiredness, sleeplessness and often nausea.

Please, please, please donate if you can xx
