UPDATE
Unfortunately I have a bit of a chest infection at the moment, so Docs have advised me not to do the half marathon on Sunday. Ian had to pull out a few weeks ago too with an ankle injury - we are a right pair! There are still lots of our friends doing it though for this worthwhile charity and I just want to thank each of you personally for your generous donations and kind messages, it has meant so much to me and helped keep me going!
Thanks for taking the time to visit our 'HH Headcases & friends' page (Hallamshire Harriers Headcases and friends).
I was diagnosed with a brain tumour in June 2011 and a week later underwent an operation which removed 99% of the tumour. I am currently undergoing treatment at Weston Park Hospital, and this is progressing well, which is why I feel fit enough and passionate enough to do this run with my friends to raise money for this underfunded worthy cause.
Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of UK children and those under 40. Only 12% males and 15% females survive beyond 5 years (compared to 50% for all other cancers).
Brain tumours can affect anyone and cannot be prevented because the cause is unknown. This is why at least £7 million per annum is needed for research into the cause, treatment and potential cure for brain tumours.
