NHS Fun Tri 2015 · 12 July 2015
We all work at RLI in the Day Care Unit and are a mixture of Theatre Staff, Ward Staff and Ophthalmic Surgeons.
We have two teams entering the NHS Fun Tri held in Bolton on July 12th 2015.
We are raising money to go towards the cost of a SLT (Selective Laser Trabeculopasty) Laser. This piece of equipment is beneficial for patients with Glaucoma.
Glaucoma is a condition which can affect sight, usually due to build up of pressure within the eye. It often affects both eyes.
Glaucoma develops when the fluid in the eye cannot drain properly and pressure builds up, known as the intraocular pressure.
The use of a SLT Laser safely reduces intraocular pressure and in many cases will mean the patient avoids the need for invasive surgery.
