Hi my name is Dharini and i am 11 years old and i live with my mum in Preston,Lancashire.  I have global devlopmental delay,epilepsy,a uropathic bowel and bladder which means i have no nerve ending in this area and i have to have daily bowel washouts.This can take me and mum over 1hour to perform.  I also require help with empying my bladder at regular intervals,and this is done through a METROPHANOFF STOMA.  The reason to have this major reconstruction surgery and having this stoma is due to me having frequent urine infections which i have suffered with from birth.  It is crutial that my bladder is emptied every 3-4 hours to prevent further complications which include rupturing of bladder and poisioning which can be life threating for me. My balance is very poor due to me having low muscle tone. This has resulted in me having excessive curvature of my spine which i now wear a spine brace for. This has helped me benifited my balace and posture whilst im wearing. I also have a heart murmur, learning difficulties and require a wheelchair to help me get around.

Due to all these complications i was told by medical proffessionals i would not be able to walk and i would be bed bound for life

The Legacy Rainbow House is a charity that offers specialist therapy which helps children like myself who are brain injured,undiagnosed and diagnosed. The Legacy Rainbow House is the only place in the North that offers this sort of therapy,which is vital to me and the other childrenwho also attend the therapy sessions.

The therapy sessions i have been attending have changed my life and given me the courage and motivation to independance and a chance to have a normal life as possible. The staff have guided me through extremely tough times and have been a great support for mum in guidance to helping me on my way to bettering my quality of life under challenging issues surrounding my health.

We have now been notified that the charity is running very low on funds and unless we as parents raise £3000 per child by April these sessions will have to be cut leaving are vunerable children no therapy to access. We would be very gratefull for any donations no matter how small as every penny counts for these needy children.

All i want is to lead a normal and independant life for myself and also for my mum. Life is hard enough for us and we can not help that we have so many complications with our health and we really need to keep this FANTASTIC SERVICE which is offered to us from ending. Without this we having no independance for a much needed "normal life" thats all we want in life to be normal and not discriminated because we need more help than others our age.
