Story

Guys and Girls,

I'll try and keep this as short as possible:

It is approaching that time of year again and The Royal British Legion is, as many of you will know, doing some incredibly valuable work to help current members of our Armed Forces serving in the Middle East and around the World.  The recuperative side of this work back in the U.K. is incredibly specialised and extends not only to the recently publicised use of sports therapy for troops, but also to councelling and support groups, alongside many other things that I simply don't have time to mention.  Further to this is of course the continual and impressively passionate work being done year-in-year-out to keep the memory alive of the actions and sacrifices made by those men and women who came to the defence of this and other nations during the two World Wars.  I have seen both apsects of the Legion's work first hand and at close quarters here in London, and believe me when I say that at times it is truely humbling.  The uphill struggle as far as I see it is in creating awareness among the younger generations, which is clearly incredibly important.

Anything, and I mean absolutely anything that you can give to support this superb charity will be greatly appreciated by my incredibly hard-working friend Elvi, who has the sometimes unenviable 365 day/year task of co-ordinating London's annual Poppy Appeal.  This is especially relevant when you think of the "current climate", which also makes any donation that you can give just that bit more brilliant.

There is allegedly a 6hr limit for the completion of this run, my very first marathon. No pressure there then!  That said, I'm very confident and absolutely determined.  Many people around the world in worse shape do far more than this, so I take heart from that.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and in advance for your kind donation to what I believe is a great cause.

Best,

Tom
