The HMS WHIMBREL Project is launching a GBP 2 million fundraising initiative to save one of the last remaining escort vessels of the Second World War. The project aims to return the Black Swan class sloop to her former operating base in the City of Liverpool. There she will become the Battle of the Atlantic Memorial, an educational centre, and a visitor attraction.

Story

We are seeking the support of Judges and Barristers, active and retired to help the HMS WHIMBREL project raise the £2 million it needs to save the last remaining escort vessel from the Battle of the Atlantic (WWII) and return her to Liverpool.

We have established a special fund Liverpool Bar and Bench – HMS WHIMBREL Project, to which members can contribute.  Giving is easy to do and tax efficient.  If you prefer to give by cheque, legacy, or in some other way, please contact Clare clare.beavan@hmswhimbrel.org or call on 0845 127 0780 for more help / information.

We hope that you may be willing to do more than just give.  We plan to host a variety of events to help both fundraising and raising awareness of the project, among the wider Merseyside, in a fun and informal way and we hope you will join us.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support us: HMS WHIMBREL (1942-49) Battle of the Atlantic Memorial will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please help us now!

Many thanks for your support.
