Hobbit feet for the hospital

Great Birmingham Run 2012 · 21 October 2012 ·
Barefoot Half Marathon for Birmingham Children's Hospital.
I love to run, I’ve got smaller than average hobbit type feet and...er, I believe the children are the future......teach them well....blah blah....
So without any clear plan or foresight and an abundance of optimism I have signed up for the Birmingham Half marathon and I thought that it would be a very sensible idea to leave the shoes at home and do it barefoot.
You're probably thinking 'what about glass?', 'You'll hurt yourself!' or worst of all 'DOG POO!' these are all things that I considered and then promptly ignored and went running barefoot anyway and so far it's been interesting..... It's not too nice when you stub your toe and running in the rain makes your feet go soft and blistery but it's all for a good cause!
Anyway, theres a backup plan...... If for any reason (injury or a return to sanity) I can't complete the distance barefoot I will use my running sandals, a challenge in their very own right! (look at the cushioning in the photos...)
So I decided that I would take the opportunity to try and help Birmingham Children’s’ Hospital raise money for their new state of the art cardiac theatres.
The Hospital has seen a dramatic increase in the demand for it’s cardiac services over the past 5 years and needs to modernise to keep up with and meet that demand.
They are currently £500,000 short of their target so anything we can do to help to bring them closer can only be a good thing.
So, I will bare my soles and cover the distance and any contribution you can make no matter how big or small will be much appreciated and hard earned!
Thanks for taking the time to see what I’m doing and please ask your friends and families to visit this page.
