We're undertaking a Double Ironman Distance Relay Triathlon over
24 hours with a Swim of at least 7.6km, a Bike of 360km plus and a Run in excess of 84.4km.
Members of Hot Chilli Triathlon Club Trowbridge are embarking on a 24hrs fund raising challenge in support of the 2012 Children In Need Appeal. From noon on Friday 16th to noon on Saturday 17th of November, a small mixed ability and gender relay team from the community triathlon club Hot Chilli, will take on the challenge of completing a minimum Double Ironman distance Triathlon within 24hrs.
The swim will take place with the support of DC Leisure at Trowbridge Sports Centre. On the completion of the swim leg, the bike leg of the Challenge (on turbo trainers) will continue at Tesco Superstore Trowbridge before the final leg running on a treadmill. Fundraising will take place at both venues throughout the 24hr period for the 2012 Children in Need Appeal. Cut off times have been established for the relay team to complete a minimum of the Double Ironman Distances (7.6km Swim / 360km Bike / 84.4km Run) but with a goal of going further.
The relay team will be made up of both practiced and novice triathletes. The novice triathletes started their involvement with triathlon at the beginning of the year and have been training with Hot Chilli Triathlon Club since. The more experienced athletes have sprint, standard and long distance triathlon accomplishments.
We would be delighted if you could support this Children in Need Fund Raising event and help us raise funds for this year's Children in Need appeal. Our Challenge will also demonstrate how the sport of triathlon can reach whole communities as a ‘healthy lifestyle and sport for all’. The event is supported by DC Leisure – Trowbridge Sports Centre and Castle Place Leisure Centre, Live 2 Ride (Frome), Precor Treadmills, votwo Events and Tesco Trowbridge Superstore.
