No parent expects to live longer than their child, but for many of the families we support, this is a reality. Julia's House, the Dorset & Wiltshire Children's Hospice charity provides frequent respite care for children and support for their families at home, in the community and at our hospice.

Story

I am running the Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc in the French Alps. It's a really tough run, and although I have some experience of running in the mountains, this will be without doubt the hardest physical challenge I have ever taken on. Keep updated www.kellythehungryrunner.com

Lots of people do amazing events for charity and I'm sure you're regularly asked to donate. All I can say is that Julia's house is a fantastic and worthy charity. I am truly scared of this event. I have images of myself sleepwalking off the side of a mountain during the second night. Please give generously and it will motivate me to keep going through the really tough patches!

Some more about Julia's House -  the charity supports Dorset and Wiltshire families with life-limited children, providing respite care in their hospice and in their own homes. They support the whole family, not just the sick child. It will take £4.6 million to run this free service in 2015 and 94% of their funds come from donations.

Although I don't have personal experience of using Julia's house, I do have a young family and I just cannot imagine how we would cope in the situation the families who use the service are in. Please give anything you can to help keep Julia's House running.
