In a moment of extreme madness, I have entered the London Marathon. Ok, you can stop laughing now. No, seriously, you can stop laughing.
I am running for Scope, and have committed to raise £1150.
I am writing to you to beg & plead for as much sponsorship money as you can spare. If you're in doubt, here are two good reasons to sponsor me:
1. It's a good cause. Scope is one of the largest disability charities in the UK working with adults and children with cerebral palsy, their families and carers. They provide specialist schools and mainstream education in support, training and employment support, local services through 270 community groups, over 50 day and residential services.
2. Come on, the thought of me spending January, February & March running round freezing cold parks in London has to be worth something.
To give an example, the official training schedule for the week commencing March 21 is:
Sunday - 3 hours steady
Monday - 30 mins easy (is there such a thing as an easy 30 minutes run?)
Tuesday - 10x400m at 10km pace - 2 mins recovery between each
Wednesday - AM 30 mins easy, PM 30 mins easy
Thursday - 40 mins steady
Friday - 30 mins steady
Saturday - Rest (although, what I'll have done to deserve a rest by then, I don't know)
Not much then. To create an extra incentive, I'm aiming to do the marathon in 4 hours ("Not a hope in hell", Chris Irwin).
So, stop laughing and click on the link, and get your credit / debit cards out.
Any support on the 18th April would be greatly appreciated (if I'm still alive by then).
