UTSW 100 mile trail race · 23 June 2012
Following last years Jungle Marathon - this year I decided to take on some local challenges such as the London Marathon in April as part of the Walking with the Wounded team, in the build up to the UTSW 100 mile race in June.
Walking with the Wounded charity is raising funds to assist with the re-training and re-education of our servicemen and women, both veterans and those leaving The Armed Forces.
Our armed forces today are asked to do so much in our name and on our behalf. Every day, young men and women are risking their lives in extreme circumstances, doing so with great professionalism and courage. Many have made the ultimate sacrifice, losing their lives in the course of duty, and we must not forget them.
Keep an eye on the latest Walking with the Wounded expedition up Everest in April, puts my 100 mile race into perspective, i.e. a walk in the park. And there was me complaining about training with a broken rib - these guys are climbing to the top of the world with missing limbs !
