Little Haven's Endurance Weekend
A large group of friends are planning a weekend of support at the Little Haven's Children Hospice nr. Southend-on-Sea, with over 20 institutions involved.
On the 26th/ 27th February 2005 we will spend 24 hours in a Marquee at Little Haven's supporting and providing entertainment for the children and their families.
Activities will include,
- General maintenance and jobs in the Hospice - Gardening and tidying in the Hospice grounds - Arranging a party and entertainment tea-time for patients and siblings The weekend will be challenging for us all. Everyone involved will spend the weekend on-site, living, eating and 'not' sleeping in a large marquee! Lot's of entertainment including: - An early evening quiz followed by Karaoke singing - Enjoying Jazz with Swinging Belles singers plus friends - Trying to recover on the floor of a cold marquee, suffering various decibels of snoring - Closing ceremony with Essex Corp of Drums playing on Sunday lunchtime Roberto, one of the organisers, has already had his life touched by the Hospice, where he has spent time there with his daughter Lily and family. Lily has a rare incurable disease which will progressively worsen and eventually require in-patient care. The plan is to raise as much money as possible for the Hospice, not just with our endurance weekend but through a number of other fundraising events including charity auctions and sponsored long distance cycle rides and runs like the London Marathon. Little Haven's really appreciate your support and you can do your bit by, either sponsoring one of our events or bidding in one of our auctions. TARGET = £24,000 to pay for a nursing staff member for 2005 Monies over target will fund additional days nursing We have already gained tremendous support from friends and colleagues, including a number of leading institutions. Banking - Deutsche Bank, SegaIntersettle, Euroclear, BNP Paribas, Bank of New York, LCH Clearnet, JP Morgan, ABN Amro, National Australia Bank, HSBC, CITCO, Nomura, Swift, HSBC & Buttonwood.
