Forth Bridge Abseil 16 June 2013 · 16 June 2013 ·
The abseil went superbly well. Everyone said that the scary bit was when you step through the railings. However, since I had faith in the harness, it didn't seem such a big deal, or perhaps it's because I didn't think about the fact that 38 out of the 73 names on the memorials were to men who had fallen to their deaths.
The really weird thing was on the way down, Simona from Bratislava and Naper University (she's just about to graduate 2.1 in Tourism Management and German, all you potential employers out there) had come to watch me but she was lost in conversation with her friend, and was not looking. Simona.... Simona... SIMONA!!! I called and all of South Queensferry (except her) heard me. We finally got her attention when the radio announcer who heard me called her name over the commentary system.
It was a fantastic experience, and I'd certainly do it again. However, you don't have to wait until then as it's still not to late for you to (retrospectively) sponsor me for this time. Just click on the Donate button!
