Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.
March 15th took us to Scafell Pike on a moutain awareness day!
Four members of the team braved the snow and wind on Englands highest peak (Alan still nursing his ski-ing injured Knee was persuded to stay at home and rest).
The day started at 7.30am with Greg's legendary porridge being prepared at the Langdale YHA! A brisk drive took us past Derwent water in the shadow of Helvellyn then round through Borrowdale to Seathwaite (129m), here we met Malcolm our mountain leader for the day.
By 9.20am we were off heading towards Stockley bridge where we turned right across the stream and started the climb proper. After a short while we turned left off the path and scrambled up the craig onto Seathwaite fell (602m) then on to the summit of the fell (636m) before all agreeing that it would be a shame to miss out on reaching the summit of scafell Pike its self (977m).
By just after 2pm we finished clambering through the snow onto the ridge that took us to the top. At that moment the cloud cleared and we were treated to a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside. After a brief stay then we made our way back down via Grains gill for 5pm. A great day for all involved (including the wives and 9 kids that we left to entertain them selves at the YHA).
Dinner at the Badger hotel and a couple of pints of "Badgers Bum" bitter rounded off the day!
