Story

Sophia Evangelisti-Walker would have been graduating from primary school and have started secondary alongside our son Oban and all her pals this year. It was beautiful to have her name included on the P7 leavers' hoodie and to watch her sister Elisa give away the special Sophia prize for the Sàr-Ghàidheal of Bun-sgoil Ghàidhlig Bhaile a' Ghobhainn. However, it was also heartbreaking to see her in the slideshows at the leavers' assembly and prom knowing that as all the others grow older, Sophia's parents will only ever have so many pictures of her to look back on.

We cannot bring her back or ease the pain but Team Alim will walk in her memory again this year to raise funds for a charity that Sophia's Mum Francesca commended to us: Caleb's Trio of Hope. Its founder Karen Stirrat, whom I know personally, is working tirelessly to support families affected by child cancer as her own little son Caleb is waging a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Caleb’s Trio of Hope helps families create fun, lasting memories for their children in palliative care. The foundation aims to provide emotional and financial support, as well as spur much-needed research on rare cancers in children.
