We Open our hearts and raise funds to improve young lives in rural Bhutan

Story

I am so proud to be running for an amazing charity in the London Landmarks Half Marathon 2021 to support Opening Your Heart to Bhutan!

Opening Your Heart to Bhutan is a UK-based charity which brings children with special needs joy and the opportunity to build meaningful lives. I met Emma Slade (Founder and CEO) at a virtual UN conference and after connecting with her I jumped at the opportunity to run on behalf of her charity.

Through simple, practical acts of compassion, the charity provides access to safe medical care, disability aids and basic amenities in the isolated rural areas of East Bhutan. It believes in education as a means of empowerment and supports the digging of sewage systems, building of hostels and improvement of facilities at Draktsho, a vocational training centre in Tashigang.

Your support and donations mean the world to me as I take on the 13.1 miles of the London Landmarks Half Marathon on August 1, 2021. I've been training for the past few months and will continue to do so as I think of all the children going through far worse when I get tired or it's raining outside.

From water supplies to healthy food for children, your donations can make a real difference in rural Bhutan. Any donation will be gratefully received but to give you an idea of the impact of your donation:

£50 - Buys educational materials for special needs schools

£100 - Gives a child everything they need to attend school in rural Bhutan

£1000 - Provides a month's worth of nutritious meals for 70-90 children
