My Trek to Peru for the Ray of Hope Appeal

Hi my name is Gemma Nolan and i am helping fundraising towards the Ray of Hope Appeal for Rosemer Cancer Foundation. I work in the Oncology Directorate at the Royal Preston Hospital and see Cancer patients day to day and to know that there is a new machine that can help reduce the length that people have cancer and reduce the risks of it striking again made me wonder why we didn't already have it. And then i found out that it is because Rosemere have to raise £650,000 on top of the £500,000 they normal aim to raise in a year to purchase it!

This is why in April next year i am traveling to Peru to do a 10day trek to Machu Picchu. Now people who know me know how tremendously unfit I am and that I suffer from CRMO which would make people think that I am crazy to do this trip and I probably am but for me I see it as the perfect reason to get fit and will be a massive achievement. The trip endures trekking through sub tropical terrain high mountain tops and altitudes of 42000 feet! After four days hard trekking we finally reach the lost city of the Inca's at the top of Machu Picchu!

So were is the money going..

Well the money as I say is going towards the Ray of Hope Appeal. This is for a new machine for the hospital, which will help to beat cancer with less side effects and help ensure it does not return. It increases the accuracy of Radiotherapy decreasing the chance of it hitting healthy cells.
