Thanks for taking the time to visit my fundraising page for Headway Cardiff.

On 29th September 2019 I will be running the Robin Hood Half Marathon in memory of my Uncle, Mike Jones-Mathias. I am raising money for Headway Cardiff, to give back for the support they offered to Mike and other members of my family after Mike was flown back to Cardiff after suffering a traumatic brain injury in Thailand in May 2018. Sadly Mike passed away on 24th March 2019 after a very long fight. He is so missed. 

Headway is a fantastic charity that support people with acquired brain injuries and their families, with both social and emotional wellbeing.  They aim to maximise people's independence and minimise the negative impact that brain injuries can have on health and wellbeing. 

Headway offer multiple services including:

- skills sessions for people with acquired brain injuries to practice and maintain skills that are needed to optimise their independence 

- education on brain injuries and referral service to other support mechanisms

- support for benefits and practical issues 

- counselling for anyone affected by brain injury 

- organise social and activity groups to share understanding, offer support and build new friendships

- family and carer support, including organised trips away
