Sheffield Half Marathon 2011 · 8 May 2011 ·

At Bluebell Wood, we care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions. We support hundreds of families, both in our hospice and in family homes. It costs around £6.5m to keep our doors open for families across South Yorkshire and beyond. We receive 16% Statutory funding.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

After what seems like a distant new years resolution, the day of reckoning is fast approaching. To cut a long story short, a group of us have put a corporate team entry in to the Sheffield Half Marathon, the fastest three individual finishing times being combined to give our team time and ranking. As it's fair to say most of us are novice runners, and the 13.1 miles is a pretty tough challenge, we are not expecting to be high on the leader board, but the team entry provides sufficient incentive for us all to do our best to finish in a reasonable time..... No pressure then! Training is therefore under way, hampered in some cases by aches and pains!

We are raising money for Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice which provides care and support to children with life limiting conditions and their families in the South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and wider area. With a running cost of £2.5 million a year and no statutory Government funding, every penny raised counts. More information can be found via the link on this page, but clearly an extremely worthy cause.

Thank you in advance for any donations.
