An IRC statement on Monday 1st June said: "The ties that bind the IRC and its mission with the fight for civil rights are longstanding. Today and every day, when black people are grieving - including our own staff members - we grieve with them and stand with them for justice."

But words alone are not enough. While many IRC UK colleagues are finding ways to help make change as individuals, this fundraiser has been set up for non-black colleagues to donate as a collective in solidarity with black people here in the UK. Black Cultural Archives is the only national heritage centre dedicated to collecting, preserving and celebrating the histories of African and Caribbean people in Britain.

If you can, please donate one hour of your salary anonymously. All funds will go directly to Black Cultural Archives, from all of us at IRC UK. Please do not share this fundraiser with anyone who does not work for IRC UK.

Full-time staff can calculate their hourly wage by doing the following:
1. Log onto Workday and click Personal Information -> About Me -> Compensation
2. Take your Total Base Pay and divide it by 254. This is your daily pay
3. Take your daily pay and divide it by 7.5. This is your hourly wage
