Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2011 I will be turning 30, a milestone in more ways than one.
Nearly two years ago now, I rode the London Bikeathon with a group of friends, 26 miles around the capital's finest sights. I weighed over 18 stone and it nearly killed me. I did it for the challenge, and for Leukaemia Research, a charity which is dear to my heart. It was the first time I had ever made any kind of physical achievement, I trained hard and months later i crossed the finish line - the feeling was indescribable.
I continued cycling for pleasure, but never took it too seriously, that is until in March 2011, I happened across the Women v Cancer ride online. The charities were ones which had special meaning for me, as for many - but 400km……..
I debated long and hard, there was no way I could do it in my current physical condition. It took me a day or two to think it over, but the idea kept growing, to raise £2,800 for charity, get fit and lose weight - a hell of a commitment on all levels, but what an achievement.
Since then \I have joined a gym, and over the last 7 months lost just over 5 stone. Will I be able to complete the ride? You bet I will, and what is more it will be completed with exuberance.
Cancer in all of it’s forms destroys, and often takes lives, tearing families apart. The charities for which we are riding bring hope for those affected now and in the future.
